About Me!

My name is Michael Lipson. I’m 25. I dream big. My follow through is precise.

I love writing code and developing websites. I’m no guru or ninja, but I really love the process and relish the chance to keep learning. My interest in the web is closely tied to my interest in business, especially startups and marketing. My goal is to work mainly at the intersection of business and the web.

I’ve had my hands on many projects, managing everything from popular blogs to message boards. I have continued to do that along with other design and development as I build a major project of my own, a new service for bloggers and content-driven sites. More on that in a moment.

I’ve been tinkering with code, specifically PHP, over the last 5 years. Initially, I started out editing and customizing existing scripts. Since then, I’ve moved on to building out my ideas and creating solutions for various web issues I have faced. Along the way, I’ve picked up more languages and more design skills.

Some people consider programming an unpleasant chore. Not me. I actually enjoy coding. I like the challenge, and I like the chance to continue learning as I go. I even enjoy finding my errors (not too many, I hope), correcting them, and growing beyond them. My latest goal has been to write code that is simpler, cleaner, and more efficient. It’s a challenge I have set for myself, one I truly enjoy. It’s fun to see the results, too, watching a site load quickly and run smoothly because all the clunky code has been chopped away.

Over the years, I’ve worked with sites of various ages and stages. I have particularly enjoyed working with organizations that are just getting started or are starting to expand rapidly. They have fresh ideas and inspired minds. It’s exciting to work with them, and I hope to continue doing so as I progress.

Among the sites I have worked with, several have clustered around two of my greatest interests: cars (and motorcycles) and technology. In the beginning, I did a lot of work with automotive sites, an area I know well and was eager to be part of. Later, I began working with more technology-related sites. I have also helped some brick-and-mortar businesses develop their web presence, including secure sites for online transactions.

My latest challenge is to develop a web service for bloggers and content-driven sites. Although I’m still in the early stages, I am deeply immersed in the task. I have written a lot of code, formulated the basic design, and worked on user-friendly features. I have high aspirations for the project and love working on it. I hope to release the beta this summer. As the project develops, I’m continuously reviewing trends and doing my best to keep with the times. It’s an exciting venture.

In fact, that’s how I think of all my work in coding and development. Call it luck, I’ve really felt blessed by the people and communities that have allowed me to work with them.
